Expert on the intersection of Disability + Mental Health
Lauren Presutti is a cross-discipline practitioner of both mental health treatment + disability activism, positioned as one of the only experts pioneering concepts on the intersection of both subjects.
Diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at age two, Lauren has been using a power wheelchair since she was five years old. Her firsthand knowledge of disability, empowerment, inclusion, resiliency, mental health, ableism, and related topics has motivated her to become a change agent across contexts.
Presutti Advocacy is Lauren's multipurpose organization designed to foster global spaces where disability can be seen, accepted, and valued. Tailored services are provided to individuals, families, groups, professionals, corporate businesses, nonprofits, schools, communities, and wider audiences.
How can she help you?
"It is a rare gem to find an advocate that is accessible, knowledgeable, and personally armed with her own disability experience as a foundation for her passion. Did I mention accessible? In a time when disability rights are still in their infancy, and amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the moms in my school district were suddenly barred from giving proper medical training to our kids' aids, and physical access to our kids while in school. For every reason in the world this is not okay. Not in the best of times, and certainly not in the worst.
Equipped with some background information, Lauren contacted the district's special needs supervisor and just like that the tables were turned. Lauren's obvious well-stood understanding of our needs opened the door to sanity, and 24 hours later I was in the school training my son's aid. There aren't words strong enough to express my gratitude, and the gratitude of those parents like me in our district."
